For over thirty years, the National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) has provided Canadians with support, education and resources in the areas of body image, self-esteem and conditions across the spectrum of food and weight preoccupation.

NEDIC hosts 6th Biennial Body Image and Self-Esteem Conference in partnership with the University of Toronto. Using this year’s theme of Awareness, Equity, Acceptance as a framework, we will address critical issues being faced across the country by families, educators, health professionals and adult influencers in the areas of social justice, mental health, nutrition, body image and self-esteem. With a speaker line-up that includes such renowned experts as Linda Bacon (researcher and author of Health at Every Size: The Surprising Truth About Your Weight) and Jon Robison (professor and leader in the Health At Every Size movement), this interdisciplinary conference promises to be promises to be an exciting learning opportunity.

The interactive presentations and workshops will cover a broad array of topics, including:
– social determinants of health
– body-based stigmatization
– body image issues among GBTQ individuals
– community-based eating disorder treatment
– eating disorder prevention

This conference is suitable for a broad audience. Those who will benefit from attending include child and youth workers, dietitians, educators, fitness professionals, nurses, psychologists, social workers and public health professionals, as well as affected individuals and caregivers. Participants will gain practical skills they can apply immediately in their practice settings, from clinics to classrooms and beyond.
