The 2026 Ontario Health System and Quality Innovation Awards Nominations are Open

We are pleased to share that the Ontario Health System Quality and Innovation Awards is returning for a third year. This special event recognizes and celebrates the achievements of individuals and teams working in the Ontario health system. The event is being hosted again by the University of Toronto’s (U of T) Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH), in partnership with Ontario Health, the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and the Ontario Medical Association (OMA).

The awards provide a unique opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the successes of health care teams and individuals who have gone above and beyond, while also providing much-deserved recognition of the efforts of the people working in the health care system. The celebration also serves as a platform to highlight models for emulation and successes in the face of unprecedented challenges.

The awards are independently adjudicated by a panel of judges from across the Ontario health system. Teams and individuals from across the Ontario health system are invited to submit nominations in nine categories of awards.

Award Categories

  • Category 1: Improved Patient Experience Award
  • Category 2: Collaborative Partnership Award
  • Category 3: Improved Population Health Award
  • Category 4: Improved Value and Sustainability Award
  • Category 5: Increased Equity Award
  • Category 6: Improved Care Team Well-being Award
  • Category 7: Improved Indigenous Health Award
  • Category 8: Excellence in Health Communications Award
  • Category 9: Transformative Volunteer Leadership Award

Eligibility Criteria

Anyone working in the healthcare system in Ontario, who has made a substantial improvement or impact within the health system, including (but not limited to):

  • Health care providers
  • Teams from Ontario Health agencies
  • Research institutes and universities
  • Community agencies and professional associations
  • First Nation, Métis, Inuit peoples’ health care providers
  • Canadian military
