DLSPH faculty members named 2026 Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) Fellows

Drs. Audrey Laporte, Arjumand Siddiqi, Andrea Tricco and Niall Ferguson have been elected 2026 Canadian Academy of Health Sciences Fellows.

Multiple DLSPH faculty members have been elected 2026 Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) Fellows, one of the highest honours in Canada’s health sciences community.
Dr. Audrey Laporte, professor of health economics and director of the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), and Dr. Arjumand Siddiqi, professor of epidemiology, were announced as CAHS Fellows for 2026 in recognition of their sustained leadership and contribution to the health sciences.
In addition to DLSPH’s core faculty, we would also like to congratulate Dr. Andrea Tricco, professor (status-only) of epidemiology and health systems research, and Dr. Niall Ferguson, professor (status-only) in the Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research (CEHCR) program, who were also named 2026 CAHS Fellows.
“Each year, the election of new Fellows strengthens the depth and diversity of expertise within our Academy,” Dr. Elham Emami, Chair of the Fellowship Committee, said in a press release. “The 2026 cohort reflects the remarkable breadth of Canada’s health sciences community and the many ways in which leadership, innovation, and service contribute to improving the health and well-being of Canadians.”
U of T nominates outstanding individuals for the CAHS Fellowship annually. Beyond recognizing exceptional past achievements, the CAHS Fellowship represents a commitment to serve. CAHS Fellows volunteer their time and lend their expertise to develop improvements related to Canada’s most crucial health topics.
Drs. Laporte, Siddiqi, Tricco and Ferguson join a list of more than 20 DLSPH faculty members who received this honour in the past decade. This growing list reflects DLSPH’s continued leadership in advancing research, education and public health impact in Canada and beyond.
Audrey Laporte
Dr. Laporte is a professor of health economics and director of the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. She also holds several leadership roles, including Director of the Canadian Centre for Health Economics and Associate Editor of Health Economics, a leading journal in the field.
Laporte’s research focuses on health economics and health services research, with particular expertise in microeconomics. Her work examines how health systems, workforce dynamics, and public policy shape health outcomes and influence the performance of health care organizations.
“I am deeply honoured to have been elected to the CAHS and to join such a distinguished group of leaders dedicated to advancing health sciences in Canada,” says Dr. Laporte. “I look forward to building relationships with my fellow cohort members and working together to drive meaningful change and advance innovative solutions to the complex health challenges facing us today.”
Arjumand Siddiqi
Dr. Siddiqi is a professor of epidemiology at DLSPH, a senior fellow at Massey College with cross-appointments in public policy and sociology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Siddiqi is also a senior scientist at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) where she holds the Edwin S.H. Leong Chair of Child Policy Research and is an adjunct professor at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill.
Dr. Siddiqi’s research focuses on health inequities, sharing this expertise with governments and international agencies, including the World Health Organization. She hopes that the CAHS fellow will help further work in these areas.
“I am extremely honoured to be named a CAHS fellow, and to be part of such an important, national, scholarly community,” says Dr. Siddiqi. “I believe that being a part of CAHS will allow me to develop new insights about the state of health sciences in Canada and where we might grow and improve as a country, and to bring back these discussions to the DLSPH community.”
