We are excited to announce that the 2026 International Medical Geography Symposium (IMGS), Geographies of Wellbeing: Environments, Transitions, and the Futures of Societal Wellbeing, will be held at the Ted Rogers School of Management, Toronto Metropolitan University. Co-hosted by the University of Toronto Mississauga, University of Toronto St. George, University of Toronto Scarborough, Toronto Metropolitan University, and Ontario Technical University, the organizing committee aims for the symposium to respond to the growing state of global uncertainty and change and provide a venue to examine how transitions, defined as multi-dimensional processes of change over time and space, influence societal wellbeing.
ABSTRACT DEADLINE MARCH 15 2026
One day registration will be available.
The IMGS will encompass four thematic sections centered around: 1) equity and justice transitions; 2) societal and environmental futures; 3) conceptual and theoretical transformations; and 4) methodological changes, intersectoral research approaches, and new directions. The overarching goal of the 2026 IMGS is to create a forum for interdisciplinary knowledge co-creation and intersectoral exchange among scholars, researchers, trainees, and practitioners to rethink, reimagine, and advance theoretical and methodological approaches in health and medical geography.
Registration and abstract submission are now open.
We look forward to your participation!
