Abstract: In 2013, Patti Lather and Elizabeth A. St. Pierre co-edited a special issue in the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education that invited scholars to explore “what comes next for qualitative research” as a response to the neoliberal repositivisation of research. This “post” movement draws on poststructuralist perspectives, especially the works of Deleuze and Guattarri, and aligns with posthumanism and new materialism. In this CQ presentation, Wong argues that qualitative research has yet to ‘arrive’ and encourages a critical dialogue to decenter the “post” which remains premised on Western epistemic dominance. Arguing for epistemic justice, Wong invites recognition and appreciation of indigenous onto-epistemological paradigms that exist in Africa, Asia, North America and around the world to facilitate a shared methodological arriving. To illustrate the possibilities in collective being-doing-becoming qualitative research, Wong draws on her community-based action research.
