Designing Science, our visiting professor series, invites scientists and research teams to step beyond their day-to-day work and engage in rich discussion with leading thinkers who are shaping research and clinical practice.

The event will feature keynote speaker Tor Biering-Sørensen, MD, MSc, MPH, PhD, Professor in Translational Cardiology and Pragmatic Randomized Trials and Chief Physician in Cardiology at Copenhagen University Hospital, Gentofte, Copenhagen, Denmark. Dr. Biering-Sørensen will deliver an in-person lecture titled Pragmatic Randomized Trials: The “new Danish take” on evidence generation. Dr. Biering-Sørensen is particularly well known for advancing large-scale, registry-based pragmatic randomized controlled trials (pRCTs) using Denmark’s nationwide health registries. His work has helped demonstrate how randomized trials can be embedded within routine healthcare systems, making them faster, less expensive, and more reflective of real-world clinical practice.
