In honour of the upcoming retirement of Professor Michael Escobar, a one day symposium and celebration will be held on May 1, 2026, at the University of Toronto.
The symposium will feature keynote presentations by internationally recognized scholars in nonparametric Bayesian methods, a core area of Professor Escobar’s research. The program will also include talks by his collaborators from a diverse range of disciplines—including traumatic brain injury, fisheries science, and rock and geo engineering—as well as presentations by his former students.
The event will also feature poster presentation competitions as part of the annual Biostatistics Research Day at DLSPH. Attendees will have opportunities for networking during coffee/tea breaks and lunch, sponsored by the Division of Biostatistics.
Following the symposium, a ticketed banquet dinner will be held at the Faculty Club. All are warmly invited to join in celebrating Professor Escobar’s distinguished career and lasting impact.
