Gustavo Saposnik

Dr. Gustavo Saposnik is a professor of medicine (neurology) at the University of Toronto and director of the Clinical Outcomes and Decision Neuroscience Research Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital, Unity Health Toronto. He serves as vice-president of the World Stroke Organization (2024–2028) and holds a PhD in decision neuroscience from the University of Zurich and a master of public health from a joint program by Harvard School of Public health and the University of Buenos Aires. His research bridges stroke care, behavioural economics and therapeutic inertia — the reluctance to intensify treatment despite evidence — work that has shaped clinical guidelines worldwide. With many publications to his credit, Gustavo is drawn to journalism that translates complex health science into stories people can readily understand, learn from and apply.
