Dr. Cesar Victora: Think Locally, Act Globally

On October 25, 2017, DLSPH’s Office of Global Public Health, Education and Training hosted Dr. Cesar Victora for the 2017 The John R. Evans Lectureship in Global Health. His talk was titled: Think Locally, Act Globally: How research carried out in Pelotas contributed to equitable global policies.

Dr. Victora is the 2017 John Dirks Canada Gairdner Global Health Laureate and an Emeritus Professor at Federal University of Pelotas, Pelotas, Brazil.

His lecture was followed by a panel discussion and Q & A with: Diego Bassani, Nandita Perumal and Anne-Emanuelle Birn, who are experts in global health policy, nutrition and child health epidemiology.

The John R. Evans Lectureship in Global Health acknowledges the major role Dr. Evans played in the life of the University of Toronto and his global contributions to the advancement of human health and well-being.

This lecture was part of the 2017 Gairdner Global Health Symposium.
