The Dalla Lana School of Public Health (DLSPH) is the proud home of an active community of researchers, leaders, and professionals, committed to improving health at a population level and health services at a system level. Whether they are members of our core administrative staff or our research staff, our staff play a key role in supporting the operations and research of our School and positively impacting the student and faculty experience.

Within our School, our staff consists of dedicated employees who serve in one of four areas: the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME), Public Health Sciences (PHS), DLSPH’s School-wide administrative offices (the Offices of the Chief Administrative Officer, Advancement, Communications, EDI, and Research), or Centres or Institutes (e.g., Centre for Global Health, Institute of Health Emergencies and Pandemics, Joint Centre for Bioethics, Waakebiness Institute for Indigenous Health, and more). These awards are open to all appointed staff members (who have successfully passed their probationary period) of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, defined as individuals who are members of the following employee groups: USW Appointed, PM/Confidential, and RA/SRA. Individuals who are categorized as casual or temporary workers, independent contractors, volunteers, students or trainees are not eligible.

IHPME Staff Awards

IHPME: Dalla Lana School of Public Health Excellence in Administrative Service Award
The Dalla Lana School of Public Health’s staff contribute greatly to our School’s vision, mission and values. They support our students and faculty, help with our programs, assist with admissions, keep our financial accounts in order, and help to maintain and improve the vast infrastructure upon which our academic processes rely. The Outstanding Administrative Staff Award honours appointed staff whose professionalism, teamwork, resourcefulness and dedication have helped to make the Dalla Lana School of Public Health a leader in public health.

Criteria: Outstanding performance is reflected by, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Maintained a consistently high quality of service through efficient and inclusive practices.
  2. Made an outstanding contribution to the faculty’s mission of teaching and research excellence.
  3. Identified and resolved problems proactively.
  4. Demonstrated a sense of community and teamwork and positively influenced others to build consensus around shared objectives.
  5. Provided mentorship to help build commitment and achieve common goals.

IHPME: Dalla Lana School of Public Health Excellence in Research Contribution Award

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health employs appointed research staff – full and part time – who contribute to innovative, rigorous and impactful research projects. Appointed Research staff support our faculty members to design and implement studies, manage confidential data, engage in analyses and interpretation, liaise with research teams/community partners/decision makers, prepare and present knowledge products and mentor junior staff/students. The Outstanding Appointed Research Staff Award honours staff whose work and dedication have helped to make the Dalla Lana School of Public Health a leader in public health research.

Criteria: Outstanding performance is reflected by, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Critical Thinking: Consistently provides thoughtful evaluation of information.
  2. Communication Skills: An effective communicator across diverse audiences, adept at writing, developing presentations, and/or contributing to discussions.
  3. Collaboration: Works well with others, sharing insights and resources to enhance the quality and impact of their work.
  4. Perseverance: Persists through challenges and setbacks.
  5. Rigorous: Performs meticulous execution of their research.
  6. Ethical: Adheres to ethical standards and demonstrates integrity in their work.

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health’s School-wide administrative offices contribute to our School’s success, by engaging with our students, researchers, alumni, donors, and community partners; provide research, technical and financial support to our faculty and programs; promote student enrollment, manage events, and manage our communications and equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives. The Outstanding Appointed Administrative Staff Award honours staff whose professionalism, teamwork, resourcefulness and dedication have helped to make the Dalla Lana School of Public Health a leader in public health.

            • These awards are only for appointed staff members of the School who have completed their probationary period.
            • Nominations may be submitted by an individual or by a group within the Dalla Lana School of Public Health through the link provided below.
