The Biostatistics Seminar Series presents:

Basics in Microbiome Data Analysis” by Dr. Osvaldo Espin-Garcia, Western University & DLSPH

Abstract: The field of microbiomics has undergone exponential growth over the past two decades, fundamentally adding a new dimension in our understanding of human health and disease. This leap forward has been possible thanks to significant advancements in next-generation sequencing technologies, alongside notable improvements in data storage and computational capabilities. In this talk, I aim to elucidate the foundational principles of microbiomics, delving into the bioinformatics pipelines that serve as its backbone. Furthermore, I will provide an overview of the common challenges and approaches used in the statistical analysis of microbiome data.
