Our exciting professional degree programs allow you to focus your work on the connections between primary care, public heath, academic family medicine and health professions education.

Program Overviews

Each program can help you achieve your goals:
1. Master of Public Health in Family & Community Medicine
2. Master of Public Health – Advanced Standing in Family & Community Medicine
3. Master of Science & Community Health in Family & Community Medicine
4. Master of Science & Community Health in Health Practitioner Teacher Education

The programs are jointly hosted by the University of Toronto’s Department of Family & Community Medicine (DFCM), Academic Fellowship and Graduate Studies Program, in collaboration with the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

All programs feature a fieldwork practicum project that allows for experiential learning and application of theoretical principles. The average program length is 1 year full-time to 2-3 years part-time.

Program features include:
• Flexible part-time option for busy professionals
• Taught by health professionals, for health professionals
• Networking opportunities with interprofessional & international colleagues
• No thesis or comprehensive exam

Application Details

Applications opened Oct. 17, 2022, and will close Jan. 18, 2023, for the 2023-2024 academic year. Programs begin September 2023.

To apply, learners must be licensed health care professionals actively practicing in their country of residence with a minimum of one year of clinical experience post-training. Visit the program pages above for additional admission requirements.
