University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics – Bioethics Seminar Series 2020-21

Speakers:

Sydney Campbell, MA, PhD student, Institute of Health Policy, Management & Evaluation, Joint Centre for Bioethics, University of Toronto

Franco Carnevale, RN, PhD (Psych), PhD (Phil), Nurse, Psychologist, Child and Youth Services Ethicist, Lead, VOICE Childhood Ethics Research Program, McGill University

About the Seminar:

Early COVID-19 statistics have indicated that children and youth tend to do better—they are infected with SARS-CoV-2 less frequently and, for those that acquire the virus, they tend to have less severe outcomes. However, messages of this sort undermine the complex, immediate and long-term impacts of the pandemic on young people. Our analysis investigates these impacts and applies a justice-based lens to justify future investment in and attention paid to the lives of young people.
