PHAA Annual General Meeting and C.P. Shah Award Presentation

Welcome all to the Public Health Alumni Association’s (PHAA) Annual General Meeting and presentation of the C.P. Shah Award to recipient Dr. Onyenyechukwu Nnorom.

This is a free event open to alumni and students. We will present the new board members of the PHAA and a captivating talk by Dr. Onyenyechukwu Nnorom.

We look forward to seeing all of you on Zoom on September 3!

Here is what Dr Onyenyechukwu Nnorom had to say about receiving the CP Shah Award:

“I am honoured to be the recipient of the CP Shah Award, in recognition of my work in health equity and education. Years ago, when I was a medical student applying to the public health residency program, I remember reading Dr. Shah’s public health textbook and seeing Dr. Shah’s photo on the back, and it was really inspiring to see a racialized doctor as a medial leader.

Now that I am faculty, I am honoured to teach public health students and medical learners about structural factors that affect health like colonization, anti-Blackness, racism, and the many forms of discrimination and oppression that keep all of us from being connected and achieving our optimal health and wellness. It’s an honour to receive this award and I’m also grateful to my colleagues and students for nominating me! I’m amazed by our students and hopeful for the future!” @OnyeActiveMD
