Presented by the Centre for Integrative Anti-Racism Studies at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education …

The Centre for Integrative Anti-Racism Studies (CIARS) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), University of Toronto, is pleased to announce its XIII Decolonizing Conference on the theme of “Colonial Ruptures: Unmasking Ongoing Coloniality and Fostering Resistance and Liberatory Possibilities” from March 12-14, 2026. This conference aims to advance critical anti-colonial knowledge, critique the present, and reimagine new futures of living well together for generations to come. From keynote lectures, paper presentations, and group panels to art installations, new media, and community-led workshops, the conference is inclusive and seeks to welcome speakers and participants from varied backgrounds.

The conference is student-led and under the guidance and supervision of CIARS Director Dr. George Dei. Our previous conference offering in 2023 attracted over 900 domestic and international participants. Thus, ongoing engagement of students, scholars, community members and leaders, and other radical thinkers in critical dialogue on the structural and systemic issues—such as racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, Islamophobia, Antisemitisms, and human rights injustices—remains our priority as we address the systemic inequities that continue to shape our societies and our experiences within them.

Following the conference, we are hosting a social wrap-up, taking place on March 14, 2026 from 8:30PM to 11:30PM. This will be an evening of celebration and connection with good food, lively music, and great company!
