Maxwell J. Smith, PhD, MSc is a Bioethicist and Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Western University. At Western, he is also the Co-Director of Western’s Health Ethics, Law, and Policy (HELP) Lab, and holds appointments in the Department of Philosophy, the Rotman Institute of Philosophy, the Centre for Research on Health Equity and Social Inclusion (CRHESI), and the Centre for Planetary Science and Exploration. He is also a Consulting Clinical Bioethicist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an Assistant Professor (status) in the Division of Clinical Public Health, Dalla Lana School of Public Health, at the University of Toronto. Dr. Smith’s research is in the area of public health ethics and focuses specifically on the ethical dimensions involved in the pursuit of health equity.
