To assess health symptoms experienced by participants in relation to indoor air quality and the presence of abandoned oil and gas wells.

Eligibility

Adult participants (aged 19 or over) living in Chantham-Kent, Norfolk or Haldimand Counties.

Participation Requirements

1) For 30 randomly selected participants, an air sampler will be installed in their home for a period of 7 days
2) all participants will answer a questionnaire with a member of our research team on characteristics of the home; demographic and neighborhood information (e.g., age, gender, ethnic origin, education, marital status; perceived environment quality of your neighborhood); lifestyle (e.g., smoking); and information about health symptoms (e.g., allergies, asthma, skin rash, headaches, stress, fatigue) participants have experienced in the past 6 months.
3) Participants will be asked to answer the same questionnaire once a year for an additional period of 2 years. Participants will be able to do so on the phone with a member of our research team.

Compensation/Benefits

Participants will receive a 20$ Amazon or Tim Hortons gift card as a token of our appreciation for their participation after the completion of the activities in year 1.

Participants will not obtain any personal benefit from your participation in this research project. The results obtained nonetheless will contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in this field of research.
