The COVFIT Study is using participant Apple Watch data to describe trends in physical activity before and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eligibility

Adults (18 or older) who currently live in Canada and own an Apple Watch.

Participation Requirements

First, you’ll install the COVFIT Study app onto your iPhone. Download it from the Apple App Store here: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/covfit-research-study/id1629918729, or by scanning the QR code in the recruitment poster. All study activities happen within the app.

Within the app, you’ll read about the study, consent to participate, provide read-only access to select historic activity data measured by your Apple Watch and complete a survey. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to participate. All data is anonymous and there is no on-going data collection, so you can delete the app as soon as you finish the survey.

Compensation/Benefits

Although there are no direct benefits to you as an individual, your data will help us understand how physical activity levels of Canadian adults changed throughout the pandemic, as well as if/how trends over time differed between population groups (e.g., younger vs. older adults, those who experienced changes in their employment status or work environment, etc.). This will help us develop targeted programs aimed at increasing physical activity among groups that are more likely to remain impacted today.
