University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics Seminar Series 2019-20

Speaker: Lora Patton, LLB, MA (Crit. Disability Studies), Vice Chair and Senior Lawyer Member, Consent and Capacity Board

This talk will address the role of the Consent and Capacity Board (“CCB”) in end-of-life decision-making, particularly when there are disputes between a health care team and family members. We will discuss various situations in which an application may be initiated before the Board, the nature of remedies, the limits of applications and what to expect. It is hoped that the talk will demystify the Board process, provide helpful tips for applications and provide resources for future reference.

This seminar is free, open to the public, and will also be webcast live via Adobe Connect.
