Through a series of hands-on workshops, you’ll be exposed to content and activities designed to help jumpstart your global and public health career.
PROGRAM OUTLINE
Our workshops include the following content:
Workshop 1 (April 28, 12-1:30pm EST): How to build and launch your career
Understanding career pathways in global health/public health
Hiring trends in global health/public health
Tips to networking/finding mentors
Workshop 2 (May 12, 12-1:30pm EST): Personal marketing and job application strategies
General CV and cover letter advice
Interview preparation and techniques
Workshop 3 (May 26, 12-1:30pm EST): Practical challenges and considerations for global + public health careers
Ethical dimensions to different work opportunities, and how to vet for these when searching for jobs
Our roles in dismantling discrimination and structural violence in global public health
Salary considerations, approaches to working locally and/or internationally, etc.
Workshop 4 (June 9, 12-1:30pm EST): What to do once you get hired: things that no one tells you
Self-care/approaches to work-life balance
Learning how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and add value to employers
Tips for negotiation and self-advocacy in the workplace
