Description: Dr Fahad Razak will discuss how Canada compared to peer nations during the first two years of the pandemic. Specifically, he will cover the kinds of metrics that can be informative, and what constitutes a peer nation. In addition, he will discuss the current state of the pandemic and concerns as we move into its third year.

Speaker: Dr Fahad Razak is an internist at St Michael’s Hospital and Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. He co-leads GEMINI, Canada’s largest hospital-based research and quality improvement network. The GEMINI team is trying to improve the care of hospitalized patients through application of advanced analytic methods to hospital big data. Dr Razak has received >$30 million in grant funding, has authored 90 peer-reviewed publications, and >50 scientific reports on the COVID-19 pandemic as part of Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table. He co-founded the Rounds Table, a podcast about research in medicine that has been downloaded >400,000 times in 150 countries, and writes regularly for news sources such as the Globe and Mail and Maclean’s.
