Joe Cressy will be speaking about his experience through the pandemic as a Councillor and Chair of Toronto Public Health.

Joe Cressy is the Senior Vice President of External Relations, Communications, and Real Estate Development at George Brown College, one of Canada’s largest colleges with 5,000 staff and 25,000 full-time students. Prior to joining George Brown, he spent 20 years working in the public and non-profit sectors in a variety of leadership positions. He has led literacy programs in fly-in indigenous communities in Northern Ontario, worked on the frontlines of the fight against HIV &AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa, and served as the Director of Campaigns and Community Outreach with the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

From 2014-2022 Joe served as a City Councillor for Spadina-Fort York, where he championed investments to create a more liveable city. He served as Chair of the Toronto Board of Health – the largest public health unit in Canada – during the COVID-19 pandemic, working to ensure the City’s response and vaccination campaign was comprehensive and effective.
