Each year, DLSPH students host a conference to examine a critical and timely public health issue. This year’s conference, Pushing the Paradigm, will explore mental health through a framework that transcends biomedical and individualistic discourses. Emphasis will be placed on the multitude of intersecting factors that produce or impede mental wellness. Anti-oppressive, decolonial, and trauma-informed lenses frame this conference’s planning with the aim of providing a platform for a diverse array of contributors. By bringing together voices from academia, social services, healthcare, policy and individuals with lived experience, the conference will enable a holistic examination of mental health and promises to draw out innovative approaches to addressing mental health across multiple socio-ecological levels.
